QR TRACK UPGRADE

IN A BLOG I DID ON WARWICK QLD (NORTH OF THE BORDER) 4-6-11 , THERE WHERE SLEEPER WAGONS IN THE YARD.
WELL COMING BACK FROM BRISBANE ON THE 31-7 11 THE SLEEPER TRAIN WAS BUSY UNLOADING JUST NORTH OF WALLANGARRA.
HOW EXCITING, NO CAMERA BUT THEY WHERE A LONG WAY ACROSS A PADDOCK ANY WAY.
AND AS REPORTED IN THE SEPT RAILWAY DIGEST IT SEEMS THAT APPROX $1 MILLION IS BEING SPENT ON MAINTENANCE ON THE LINE BETWEEN WARWICK AND WALLANGARRA.
THIS LINE IS BASICALLY DISUSED APART FROM A COUPLE OF SPECIAL TOUR TRAINS PER YEAR.
I'M NOT SURE WHO IS ACTUALLY PAYING FOR OR DOING THE WORK SINCE THE PRIVATISATION OF QR ?
ON A TRIP TO TOOWOOMBA ON MONDAY 26-9-11 A LOT OF RE SLEEPERING HAS BEEN DONE WHICH LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE HEADING NORTH FROM WALLANGARRA .I'M NOT SURE HOW MANY SLEEPERS ARE BEING USED BUT IT COULD BE AS MANY AS 1 IN 3.
THE SMALL VILLAGE OF BALLANDEAN HAS BEEN TURNED INTO THE STAGING /MAINTENANCE CENTRE FOR THE VAST AMOUNT OF TRACK EQUIPMENT BEING USED.

AS YOU CAN SEE ITS A HIVE OF ACTIVITY

IT LOOKS AT THIS STAGE LIKE THE QLD GOVERNMENT IS NOT GOING TO ABANDON THE LINE JUST YET.
AND AS A BIT OF A  COMPARISON SOME SHOTS TAKEN ON THE SAME DAY OF THE STANDARD OF THE TENTERFIELD TO WALLANGARRA SECTION WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY RUN BY A DIFFERENT STATE GOVERNMENT !

THE SUNNYSIDE BRIDGE WHICH IS CLOSE TO MY HEART SHOULDN'T HAVE  LONG TO GO BEFORE MR GRAVITY FINISHES IT OFF.MAYBE WE SHOULD TAKE BETS ON HOW LONG IT WILL SURVIVE !

  1. I've thought a working bee to remove the ballast from the four foot would extend the life of the Sunnyside Bridge.
